The City Planning and Development Office

Introduction

The commitment to affirm City Government’s development goals is being addressed by promoting inclusive development planning in which the Office of the City Planning and Development Coordinator directs it action. The office provides reliable information necessary to generate development plans and policies responsive to the needs and welfare of the people of Santiago City.

 

Fundamental to its mandate is to formulate integrated economic, social, physical, and other development plans and policies for consideration of the City. Hence, mainstream programs, projects and activities of the City Government for implementation contributing to the realization of the City’s Vision.

 

Constant coordination with all departments as well as concerned national agencies is being maintained by the office to properly disseminate information that is necessary for the accomplishment of the City Mayor’s commitment to the people of Santiago City.

 

 

Functional Statement

 

The Office of the City Planning and Development Coordinator is currently one of the twenty six departments under the City Government of Santiago. Its mandated function is provided in Section 476, Article Six of the Local Government Code and in Section 32, Article 8 of RA 7720 or the Charter of the City of Santiago.

 

The functions of the office are the following:

  1. Formulate integrated economic, social, physical, and other development plans and policies for consideration of the City;

  2. Conduct continuing studies, researches, and training programs necessary to evolve plans and programs for implementation;

  3. Integrate and coordinate all sectoral plans and studies undertaken by the different functional groups of agencies;

  4. Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the different development programs, projects and activities in the City in accordance with the approved development plan;

  5. Prepare comprehensive plans and other development planning documents for the consideration of the local development council;

  6. Analyze the income and expenditure patterns, and formulate and recommend fiscal plans and policies for consideration of the finance committee of the Sangguniang Panlungsod;

  7. Promote people participation in development planning within the City; and

  8. Perform such other duties and functions and exercise such other powers as provided for under Republic Act No. 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991, and those that are prescribed by law or ordinance.
